More Evidence That the Dell Streak Is Doomed
Really? Dell wants to sell the Streak off contract for more than the base-model iPad? For more on contract than the Droid X, Incredible, and iPhone 4? What a joke!
(Incidentally, the iPhone 4 is probably the best direct price comparison because it too has 16GB of built-in Flash storage, a 5MP rear camera with a VGA quality front facing camera, and a capacitive touchscreen that can actually be used outside in the sun.)
Now, it appears that Dell immediately pulled the blog post revealing this pricing scheme, so maybe this isn’t final. I bet it is, though. This close to launch I imagine all of those contracts have been signed and the deals are done. So, it is almost certainly going to launch sometime soon at $299 on contract and $549 with no contract. By the way, when is it launching anyway, Dell? You said July, but then said not this week? My guess? The original launch date was supposed to be today, some detail is holding it (maybe technical or maybe carrier related), and someone forgot to change the publish date on their blog entry.

Sorry I’ve been so silent here lately. So you know, though, I have some major events here at work in July (which are proceeding well, thanks). These suck up pretty much all of my available time and make me exhausted and hesitant to go behind a computer when I get home.
Also, it is hot.
So, I’ll be back with more regularity after this current course ends at the end of the month. Until then, expect irregular updates.

I spent way too much money today.
But the Hornitos, Cointreau, Salt, and lime juice are making it all okay.
Later, Sookie.

I made the best batch of pancakes I think I’ve ever made this morning. Simple. Fluffy. Delicious.
I think the results were almost certainly a combination of little luck, care, and the Kate’s Buttermilk I used. I’m sorry, the cultured stuff just isn’t the same, and adding acid to milk is just not even close.
Now I’m going to buy a new couch, and maybe some shorts.

So, Apple did pretty much what I expected. They came on stage, admitted that there is a problem, but pointed out that basically every other smartphone on the planet has a similar problem, explained that they do indeed test these things, but admitted that mistakes were made. And, they announced that, to keep everyone happy:
- They’re giving away free cases to every iPhone 4 owner who wants one. If you already bought a case, you can get a refund. There will be more than just the Apple “Bumper” cases available, because Apple can’t meet the demand alone. Apply “late next week” on Apple.com.
- Just like you always could (regular AT&T policy), if you’re still not happy you can return the phone within 30 days (it must be “undamaged”) for a full refund. No restocking fees or anything else shady like that.
Can we please shut up about this now?
PS. They also announced that there is a software fix for the proximity sensor issues in development, and they briefly mentioned the release date for the white iPhones.
